The Museum is one of the oldest of that kind in Europe, although it is presently located in a new, modern building.

The arena of the Olympic Centre (app. 1000m2) accommodates more than 3000 exhibits and almost 600 pictures related to sports and tourism. Exhibition presents 37 sport categories, demonstrated by prizes, documents, clothes and sports equipment.

The museum was founded in 1964, on the 100th anniversary of Stefan Żeromski’s birthday. The founder was a museum curator Aleksandra Dobrowolska, the initiator of biographical and literary museums in Świętokrzyskie region.
