The Museum is one of the oldest of that kind in Europe, although it is presently located in a new, modern building.

The Museum of Sports and Tourism, founded in 1952, is one of the oldest buildings of this type in Europe. Its collection has more than 45,000 exhibits, mainly related to Polish sports: medals, tokens, plaques, cups, badges, sports and tourism coins, flags, pennants and badges, uniforms and sports equipment, travel accessories, sports and tourism posters, works of art (sculpture, painting, graphics, medals, art, fabric) about sports, as well as philatelic and numismatic collections, photographs, books, documents and archives. The Museum collection is rounded off with film and audio documents.
The Olympic Centre Building which is a current location of the Museum (and also other sports’ institutions) is a symbolic representation of Olympic Spirit. The elevator shaft is in the shape of the Olympic torch while a roof’s design is stadium alike. You can also see the famous Igor Mitoraj’s 'Ikaro Alato' sculpture in front of the building.
