The museum was established in 1972 on the initiative of a firefighting activist – Maksymilian Anger.

The exhibition includes old documents, badges, uniforms, flags and fire-fighting equipment dating from the old times. The display cases present brass helmets of the 18th century, leather helmets from the early 19th century, Prussian helmets and interwar helmets.
