Orthodox Church dedicated to Ss. Peter and Paul

General

Unit type:

The small 19th century wooden Orthodox Church dedicated to Ss. Peter and Paul that exists today was moved to Rajsk in 1969 from the area near Tomaszow Lubelski.

The former Orthodox church that stood here was pulled down during the German pacification of the village in 1942 when the Nazis murdered 149 locals. Rajsk has been renowned for the miraculous icon of the Theotokos, which went missing in Russia in 1915.
