The „Modrzyna” is a forest reserve with the area of 17.87 hectares situated in Barwinek. It was established in 1953 to protect Polish larch which is the part of larch-fir forest stand.
Under protection in the reserve there are about 550 pieces of historic Polish larches. Most of them are around 200 years old. Forest stand of the reserve consists not only of larch, but also of fir, beech, sycamore maple and hornbeam. Larch wood is valued as an excellent timber. An example of that are medieval wooden churches in Haczów and Blizne located near the Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Landscape Park.
