The museum is located in the 19th c. palace - park complex. In the palace neighbourhood small peasant huts stand in the shadow of gentry homesteads.

There are eight departments in the museum: Ethnography, History and Art, Wooden Architecture (in the open air), Agricultural Technology, Herbal Traditions, Plant Cultivation, Animal Breeding, Veterinary Medicine. Over 27 000 items make the Museum collection, 300 of which are tools and agricultural machines), available for tourists who can see them in 39 permanent expositions. A typical village from the Mazovia and Podlasie borderland was recreated in the open air by gathering 44 objects of wooden architecture dating back to 18th c. – 20th c.  The Museum has its branches in Drewnowo (a windmill with a miller’s homestead) and Dąbrowa Łazy (windmill). In the park over 100 species of trees and shrubs grow, 19 of which are natural features of historic importance. The museum offer is extended with numerous annual events taking place there. These are: " The Palm Sunday - Easter Palms Competition ”, "the Podlaskie Festival of Bread ”, "The all-Poland Pastoral Instrument Playing Competition”.
