Corpus Christi Church

General

Unit type:

Corpus Cristi Church at Krakowska Street is the second biggest gothic Church in Poznań (after the cathedral).

It was funded in the 15th century by king Jogalia, at the site where - according to a legend - three Hosts appeared. Its construction lasted for almost a century. Despite many reconstructions, it preserved its original, gothic character.

17th century portraits of King Jogalia and Queen Hedwig and a complex of confessionals with rich decorations. A 14th century hoard offered to the Church by King Jogalia is kept in the Church’s hoard. It’s probably the oldest liturgical receptacle of this type in Poland.
