Park Narodowy Gór Stołowych
Słoneczna 31
Kudowa Zdrój

The greatest assets of this park are its amazing rock formations as well as the only mountains in Poland built of sandstone plates.

It was created in 1993. The area of the park is 6,340.4 hectares surrounded by a designated buffer zone with an area of 10,515 hectares. It is located in the Stolowe Mountains in the Klodzko Basin and includes their south eastern section. This range is about 18km long and 6km wide. These are the only mountains in Poland built of sandstone plates horizontally layered with marls which have been eroded over millions of years. They create a beautiful and very varied landscape.

The erosion of the sandstone has given rise to a well known and attractive rocky labyrinth known as Bledne Skaly, which is also close to the summit of Szczeliniec Wielki, about 919m above sea level, and the lower peaks of Sklaniak, Mnich and Skalne Grzyby

The main treasure of the National Park is not the wildlife but its very interesting natural rock formations, creating a very picturesque landscape broken up with large tracts of forests, alpine meadows and marshlands. They are accompanied by many oddities of nature and many species of birds including some rare ones like the kestrel, falcon, grouse and woodcock. Exploring the park is made easier by the hiking trails and one cycle path.
