General

Unit type:

The Regional Museum in Kraśnik has an interesting and rich collection of exhibits. It is presented in three sections: archaeological, ethnographic and historical.

It has a collection of regional historical and ethnographic exhibits, and above all well-known outside Kraśnik, archaeological sites. Ethnographic collection presents the monuments related to culture and folk art of the region: a collection of ceramics from the eighteenth century to the present day, a large collection of exhibits relating to the material culture of the village and ritual arts. Most interesting is the collection of historic books from the library of the monastery of the Canons Regular, old photographs of Kraśnik and its people, documents from the period of the occupation. There are interesting collections of military exhibities from World War I and II. Archaeological monuments originate mainly from the museum's own extensive research, including cremation cemeteries of the Bronze Age in Świeciechowie, the burial side of the late Latenes period in Pikule and cemetery from the Roman period in Kraśnik-Piaski, as well as on the Castle (Zamczysko) - the seat of the former owners of Kraśnika.
