The Carmelite monastery and Church in Przemysl

General

Unit type:

The Church and monastery of the Carmelites from the seventeenth century are overlooking the old city of Przemysl.

The Church was built in 1625 with the funds of M. Krasicki. Till the year 1784, it belonged to the Carmelites, then was passed into the hands of the Uniates and obtained the status of the cathedral. The invaders passed the Baroque Church to the Greek Catholics, who turned it into the Greek Catholic Cathedral, changing the look of the temple and rebuilding the monastery adjacent to the Church. In the recent years the Carmelites restored the Church and monastery as well as its original appearance. The impressive interior of the Church was also restored.
