Nowy Sącz - old city

Nowy Sącz is an ancient and dynamically developing town situated among hills, down in the valley.

Its medieval layout with a large town square has survived to the present times. Not far from the town square you can see the gothic church of St Margaret’s dating from the 13th and 14th century and a beautiful “Dom Gotycki” (Gothic House) which houses a museum. From the town castle remain only one tower and wall fragments. You might also like to visit the synagogue built in 1746. It is one of the very few mementos left after a once thriving large Jewish community. On the suburb of Nowy Sącz there is a beautiful outdoor Ethnographical Park museum where on the twenty hectares of land you can see historical buildings built in regional style.
