General

Enhetstyp:

Church of St Peter and St Paul originating from the year 1774.

Church of St. Peter and St Paul – was founded by the Prince A. Czartoryski in 1774 for the Uniates. From that period comes also the bell tower. The main altar is in the empire style. In 1875 the Church was taken away from Uniates by the Russian Government and turned into an Orthodox Church. Twice in 1916 to 1940 the Church was desecrated by the Germans by organization of the storage halls in it. In 1944, the Church was hit by Russian artillery. After the war it was rebuilt, but without the slender tower. Currently it serves mainly as a rectoral Church for the school children.
